SHSU Device - Personal Preferences
Some personal preferences may have to be set up on your device. We have provided guidance on how to set up common preferences.

Email Signature
In Outlook, click on the File menu, then select Options and then Mail.
Click on the Signatures button to create your signature for new messages and reply/forward messages.

Connect Shared Mailboxes/Calendars
In Outlook, select the File menu and click the Add Account button.
For an E-mail address, type the address of the shared mailbox to access. (Note: The email address must be typed in accurately so verify the email address.)
When/If prompted to log in, erase the username and password that is filled in and put in your SHSU credentials.
The additional mailbox should be listed below the Inbox.

Microsoft Office Theme
You can set up or change your Office background and theme by going to the File menu and selecting Options, then General from any Office application.

Default Browser
To set up your default web browser, search for Default apps in your taskbar search.
From the Default apps screen scroll to the Web browser section to choose your default browser.
Please note that Internet Explorer is being phased out by Microsoft in favor of Edge, we suggest that you avoid using that browser.

Browser Favorites and Bookmarks
For assistance with importing your favorites or bookmarks, please refer to our technology tutorials at www.shsu.edu/guides. Click on Productivity and then Exporting and Importing Favorites. The IT@Sam Service Desk can assist you as well.

Browser Add-ons and Extensions
Browsers can install add-ons and extensions to make working and browsing the web easier. For example, you can install an Adobe Acrobat extension that will make printing PDFs as easy as clicking a button. To set up these extensions, follow the instructions for your specific browser below.
Edge
To view and update browser extensions in Edge, click on the icon in the browser and then click on Extensions.
Chrome
To view and update browser extensions in Chrome, click on the icon in your browser, select More tools, then Extensions.
