SHSU Device - Maintenance and Care

To ensure your laptop stays secure and operates at peak performance, it should be powered on and connected to the internet regularly.  This allows the laptop to receive important updates for both security and installed software.

Windows

• IT sends out security and software updates for your laptop on Friday evenings beginning at 10 p.m.  Keep your laptop on and connected to the internet overnight during this time. These updates automatically install and sometimes require a restart so be sure to save all your work frequently.

Mac

• You will be notified when your laptop receives an update that requires installation. You will receive reminders until the updates are installed.

In the event that a laptop is identified as having vulnerabilities, a notice will be sent to the owner to remediate them in a timely manner. Any laptop not remediated may be disconnected from SHSU's network.
