SHSU Device - Device & Security
Ensure you are practicing safe computing to prevent any security issues described in the Annual Cybersecurity Awareness Training. If you notice that your laptop is acting unusual or you see files that shouldn’t be on it, contact the IT@Sam Service Desk immediately.
Your laptop is encrypted, secured to prevent unauthorized access, for you in accordance with state and university policies. You will be able to access your files as normal; this is just a precaution that will prevent hackers from accessing your files. However, confirm that any data stored on an external device (thumb drive, hard drive, memory card) or cloud storage (OneDrive) is encrypted when transporting protected university information. Reference the “Encrypting External Drives” and “Encrypting Files” Technology Tutorials for instructions on how to encrypt your information.
To prevent theft, secure your laptop physically, when it is not in use. Do not walk away from your laptop in public areas.
