Tripod's Thrift Shop

At Tripod's Thrift Shop, students can come pick up clothing and necessities from 1-5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays or 3-6 p.m. on Tuesdays. All they have to do is swipe their Bearkat OneCard upon entry.

Title IX

Sam Houston State University continues to go above and beyond to ensure student safety with help of the Title IX office. Title IX aids victims of sexual assault or any type of sex or gender discrimination on campus and their services are available to all members of the SHSU community including students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The Writing Center

The Writing Center, a division of the Academic Success Center helps students create ideas for essays, identify their target audience, organize their papers, improve writing styles, and teach them how to proofread. They can even help students after the paper has been turned in and graded by interpreting the comments left by instructors and help students to avoid making the same mistakes.

The SHSU Food Pantry

Born out of a need to serve students who struggle with food insecurity, the SHSU Food Pantry provides quality and nutritious meals during distribution days twice a month. However, this new space, located behind the Katpost at 1108 17th street, is also open Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday’s from 9 a.m. to noon.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Center

For many SHSU student workers, filing Federal Income Taxes is uncharted territory. For those whose household income is $56,000 or less, Sam Houston State University’s Bearkat Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center will provide free federal income tax assistance.

At Sam Houston State University, the Counseling Center is committed to students’ well-being.
