Dr. Vinoth Sittaramane is a Professor of Neuroscience and the Director of the Graduate Program in Applied Biomedical Sciences at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). He also serves as Co-Chair of the Faculty Evaluation System Committee and a member of the Academic Leadership Committee, reflecting his dedication to academic excellence and faculty development.

With over 15 years of experience in academia, Dr. Sittaramane has a rich background in teaching, research, and mentoring. He earned a DVM from Pondicherry University, an MVSc in Biotechnology, and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Missouri, where he conducted groundbreaking research on motor neuron migration in zebrafish. His academic career includes faculty roles at SHSU and Georgia Southern University, where he advanced research initiatives, mentored students, and chaired key committees in program and faculty development.

An experienced educator and leader, Dr. Sittaramane has directed multiple biomedical and neuroscience courses, emphasizing critical thinking and hands-on learning. His research in neural development and cancer biology, supported by over $1.9 million in funding, has fostered national and international collaborations.

As Program Director of the MABS program, he is dedicated to developing a career-focused curriculum that equips students for success in the medical, healthcare, and biomedical industries. He is also spearheading the integration of artificial intelligence into the curriculum, ensuring graduates are prepared to apply AI-driven innovations in diagnostics, medical imaging, and personalized medicine. His vision is to bridge academia and industry, providing students with the skills to thrive in an evolving job market.
