Sam Houston Regional Education Consortium (SHREC)
The Sam Houston Regional Education Consortium (SHREC) is an ACGME accredited Institutional Sponsor housed at Sam Houston State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. SHREC was established in 2023 to support the development and operation of medical residency and fellowship programs in East Texas. Our residency and fellowship programs support our commitment to primary care and to our rural and underserved populations while providing residents and fellows the opportunity to continue their medical training in Texas in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Each training site is committed to providing residents and fellows with enriching, high-quality clinical experiences along with comprehensive and engaging didactics, ongoing assessment, leadership opportunities, and community engagement. Our programs provide residents and fellows with the tools to treat a diverse patient population as they become independent practicing physicians in an ever-changing health care environment.
Our goal is to produce competent and compassionate physicians who become leaders in their communities.
