Cameron Huefner helped usher in a new era of Bearkat basketball during his time at Sam Houston State University. The Australian-born forward also excelled in the classroom to reach new heights on and off the court, establishing a professional trajectory that highlights his myriad of skills.

Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM) honored key donors May 30 during a heartfelt room-naming and donor appreciation ceremony held at the Conroe campus. The event celebrated the transformational impact of philanthropic support on the college’s rapid rise in reputation, performance and mission-driven outcomes.

The Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine’s (SHSU-COM) Rural and Underserved Health Club (RUHC) hosted a Mobile Wellness Clinic in Montgomery on May 3. With strong support from faculty and nearly 80 student volunteers, the event offered osteopathic care, clinical services and wellness education to more than 50 members of the community.

Sam Houston State University has appointed Dr. Sumanth Yenduri as its next provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, effective July 17, 2025. A seasoned academic leader and accomplished computer scientist, Yenduri brings nearly two decades of experience in higher education leadership, academic innovation and student success.

Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (SHSU-COM) celebrated the graduation of its second class of osteopathic physicians, marking another milestone in its mission to expand access to high-quality healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved communities across Texas. 

It’s often said that blood is thicker than water, but Teresa Skidmore and Tiffani Hensarling decided to add diplomas to the mix. The mother-daughter duo decided in 2018 to follow in the footsteps of Hensarling’s older sister and earn their degrees at Sam Houston State University. Better still, they decided to do it together.
