About the Program
The Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking was established in 1996 with a two-fold mission. The primary mission was to educate and prepare students for a career in the banking industry and the second to provide educational programs for community bankers.
Area bankers were quick to embrace and support the banking program by hiring interns and attending educational programs.
By virtue of regional and national educational programs and consulting services provided nationwide, the Chair of Banking has gained national recognition as a program that prepares students to be instantly valuable to the banks and financial institutions.
