Danville Chadbourne ’71 a San Antonio-based sculptor, was awarded a $25,000 grant by the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. Given to only 12 artists annually, the award recognizes the quality of work and artist dedication over a period of many years. His work has been exhibited extensively throughout the nation and internationally.
Craig Mcknight ’80 recently published “The Business of Negotiation, An Executive’s Guide to Getting What You Want.” The book draws on his experience as a negotiator, attorney, CPA, decision analyst, manager, project manager, father, spouse and negotiation instructor.
Bill Ward ’81 senior vice president of commercial activity, Superior Pipeline Co., was appointed to lead GPA Midstream Association as chairman of the board. He and his wife, alumna Marye McDonald Ward, ’84 live in Tulsa and have four children.
Lee Wallis ’83 is now managing director and market leader for CBRE’s Oklahoma and Arkansas markets. Wallis has more than 30 years in commercial leasing and property management, most recently as senior managing vice president at Transwestern. He previously was vice president of operations for Hines covering the Southwest region.
Jim Rapp ’91 was promoted to head football coach and athletic director of The Woodlands High School in Conroe I.S.D. This is his 28th year in education.
Barry Gresham ’95 serves as assistant chief of police for the City of Shenandoah. He and his family say they are grateful to all who prayed for their 17-year-old son who survived Hodgkin’s Lymphoma last year. They report he is now cancer free and plans to attend college in the fall.
Kevin D. Fritze ’96 was selected as the Minnie Stevens Piper Excellence in Teaching Award recipient for Angelina College. Fritze serves as professor and program coordinator in the Department of Criminal Justice at Angelina College.
Bernadette Brown ’96 was named program chair for the 2019 National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair. An expert in news operations, programming and development, she serves as manager for CNN Newsource Newsgathering.
Angela Albers ’97 has been appointed Wood County criminal district attorney by Gov. Greg Abbott. A Mineola resident, she has been first assistant district attorney for the Wood County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.
Kelley Colello Carville ’00 chased her dreams of working in television and moved to Los Angeles following graduation. After moving her way up to senior publicist and later press manager at NBC, Carville accepted a position at HBO in 2006, and was announced vice president of media relations in 2017.
Michael J. Curl ’03 was named ‘Secondary Principal of the Year’ by Goose Creek Consolidated I.S.D. He began his teaching career in Fort Bend and presently serves as principal of Cedar Bayou Junior High, which earned the most state distinctions of all secondary campuses in the district.
Trina Silva ’06 serves as development coordinator at the University of Houston and was recently elected as a board member on the East End Chamber of Commerce Foundation board.
Cody Velkovich ’08 now serves as area sales manager for American Pacific Mortgage. He is responsible for building out APM locations with licensed mortgage loan originators in Austin and Fort Worth.
Ashley Wright ’08, ’17 a school counselor in Conroe I.S.D. was recognized as ‘TSCA Elementary School Counselor of the Year’ by the Texas School Counselor Association. She says she loves motivating young students to dream big and attend SHSU.
Bill Gollmitzer ’11 was promoted to associate professor of law and safety and granted tenure at Vincennes University in Indiana. He is a Life Member of the SHSU Alumni Association.
Joseph L. Rodriguez ’16 (Ed.D) of cohort 32, is entering his second year as principal at Nettie Marshall Elementary in Nacogdoches. His school was selected by the U.S Dept. of Education as a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School
Hannah Zedaker ’16 began as an intern with Community Impact Newspaper in 2015. After graduating, she was hired as a full-time reporter. This year, she was promoted to editor of the Spring/Klein edition where she covers Spring ISD and Harris County Commissioners Court, in addition to business, development and transportation news.
Sonnier Grace ’18 is currently pursuing a M.A. in social work at Baylor University.
