What is Work-Study?
Federal Work-Study Program
- Jobs are available both on and off campus.
- Available to Bearkats who show financial need and want to earn a portion of their education expenses.
- Most jobs begin at minimum wage, but there are many other benefits such as flexible work hours.

Texas Work-Study Program
- Jobs are located on-campus
- Available to students who are Texas residents, show financial need, and want to earn a portion of their education expenses.
- Most jobs begin at minimum wage, but there are many other benefits such as flexible work hours.
How do I Receive Work-Study?
- Contact the Financial Aid & Scholarships office at workstudy@shsu.edu to determine eligibility.
- If you are a student worker, your department can contact workstudy@shsu.edu to determine work study eligibility.

How much can I earn through Work-Study?
A student can earn up to $4000 for the academic year ($2000 Fall and $2000 Spring).
Will the money I earn go toward my Tuition and Fees?
No. All money earned is paid directly to the student in the form of Bi-Weekly pay.

When I am awarded will I be assigned a work study job?
