Mailman - Listserv System

Use of a listserv, such as our mailman system, can streamline communication, enhance collaboration and build community within SHSU organizations and interest groups.

What is a listserv?

A listserv is an email service that works like a distribution list with some added advantages. A listserve provides:

  • Efficient Communications: The ability to reach a large group of people instantly via email.
  • Centralized Information Hub: By subscribing to a list, users can ensure they receive all relevant communications in one place.
  • Customizable Subscriptions: Users can chose their level of engagement by opting to receive messages in real time or a daily digest.
  • Archiving and Searchability: Messages sent to the listserv are archived in the system making it easy to search for past discussions or information.

How to Log In

1. Navigate your web browser to the mailman system at https://lists.shsu.edu.

2. Select Sign In from the upper right-hand corner of the page. If prompted, use your SHSU username and password.

Email Verification

After logging in, you will need to verify your email address. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Click on the profile icon in the upper right-hand side of the page, then click Account.

2. Click on E-mail Addresses.

3. Click Re-send Verification.

4. You will receive an email within a few minutes. Click on the link provided in that email to verify your email address.

Link Email Accounts

If you have an alias email address, you may find it necessary to link those if you have subscribed to a list using that address. To do so:

1. Click on the profile icon in the upper right-hand side of the page, then click Account.

2. Click on Link another address.

3. Enter your alias email address in the Add E-mail Address field and click Add E-mail.
