Student Engagement & Retention
The Freshmen Leadership Program (FLP) is an innovative and challenging program that prepares students for the rigors of leadership roles. During the fall and spring semesters of their freshmen year, our program works to provide students with a rich series of learning opportunities designed to test, refine, and further develop their respective leadership interests and abilities.
The mission of Orange Keys is for quality students to serve as the official hosts and ambassadors for Sam Houston State University and formal University functions. Orange Keys provides leadership experience and scholarship opportunities for members who represent the student body in an excellent manner.
This event honors and celebrates the lives of our students, faculty, staff, retired faculty/staff, and alumni who have passed away within the previous year.
Keys of Excellence is an award ceremony hosted by the Orange Keys who are one of the premier student organizations at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). The purpose of the Keys of Excellence Award Ceremony is to recognize and honor faculty and staff who have positively impacted the lives of Orange Keys.
The purpose of the Raven Scholars program is to recognize our top students who have achieved academic success as well as integrated campus life, service, and leadership into their college career. An annual award banquet will be held each spring to distinguish these exemplary students.
Student Government Association
The purpose of SGA at SHSU is to serve as the official voice of the student body as its democratically elected representatives. We strive to promote the welfare of the student body, academic excellence, and civic engagement.
