Musical Theatre Workshop

Each musical theatre major at Sam Houston participates in Musical Theatre Workshop every semester. This course is designed to be an intensive in dance and music. The topics covered are meant to inform students of the business aspects of being a professional performer, develop the necessary materials used in the business and solidify the skills required for a successful career in the performing arts.

Musical Theatre Vocal Training

Our goal is to equip our students with a palate of vocal choices appropriate for the various styles of singing found in the Broadway canon of repertoire. We help our students build an audition folder that represents their personality, essence and authenticity while serving their marketable brand. Each musical theatre major is enrolled in private voice study each semester. We want our students to be marketable in today's industry and therefore recognize the need for belt training. Our teachers specialize in training contemporary commercial music vocal styles and techniques.

BFA in Musical Theatre

At the end of their sophomore year of training, students select an area of emphasis for their continued study. Each area of emphasis allows students twelve additional hours in their chosen area of concentration. Explore our catalogue for more details about our areas of emphases.
