How to Apply
The Department of Security Studies is seeking high-caliber candidates to lead the new homeland security enterprise in the U.S. As part of the College of Criminal Justice, which has a national and international reputation for excellence across the globe, the program is designed to produce leaders for the future of this emerging field.
Following are the minimum requirements to be considered for the program.
- Graduate Admissions Application

- TOEFL scores for international students
- Official transcripts of all academic coursework previously undertaken
- A 3.0 undergraduate GPA
- International students are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A minimum score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), or 79 (internet-based) is required. A holistic review of each student's application file will be completed with admission offered on a competitive basis.
Applicants with unique circumstances who do not meet all of the qualifications may be accepted into the program on probationary status at the discretion of the admissions committee. Students whose prior educational experience does not include the necessary prerequisite course will be required to complete stem work before registering for the specific graduate course. All required materials should be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
