Academic Advising for Music Majors

All music majors at Sam Houston State University are required to meet with an academic advisor each semester before registering for classes. Advising is conducted through the SAM Center, and students must schedule an appointment in advance.

Advising for Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students

Incoming freshmen and transfer students are strongly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor before attending orientation. Early advisement ensures students can register for the courses they need, as class availability may be limited during orientation. While attending orientation is highly recommended, students should schedule their advising appointment and register for classes as soon as they are admitted to SHSU.
