A New Journey
SHSU’s new president has taken over at a time like no other in higher education. Despite a busy semester full of activities, the new president still managed to make time for Heritage Magazine to talk about her background and the transition to SHSU.
Restart 2020
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic this past spring, no one could have predicted that education as we know it would have to be reimagined. On multiple fronts, Sam Houston State University took decisive actions to meet the needs of our students.

Chien-Pin Li joined the College of Humanities and Social Sciences as its new dean at the beginning of the fall semester.
The Lasting Impact
SHSU Friends, alumni, faculty, and staff contributed an incredible $145 million to the university as part of the comprehensive capital campaign, “Honoring Traditions. Creating Futures.”
State Of The Art
Last fall, the College of Arts and Media opened its new 71,500 square foot building that houses the university’s Visual Arts program. Today, the modern structure finally has an official name.
A Novel Idea
The SHSU Office of Alumni Relations has gotten creative in finding ways to help Bearkats engage with their alma mater and peers.

SHSU has collaborated with Texas State University System campuses and communities in support of the statewide contact tracing program.
