Celebrating Progress | Areas of Excellence

  • The state-of-the-art facilities at Gibbs Ranch have expanded existing programs with hands-on learning opportunities. Through these advancements, the School of Agricultural Sciences is poised to equip future professionals across various industries. The complex will house several academic programs and will serve as home to the SHSU Rodeo Team. New features will include a Multi-Purpose Agricultural Arena and Rodeo Team Stall Barn while a horticulture and learning center will provide classrooms, labs and workspaces, along with two greenhouses.
  • The School of Nursing has taken proactive steps to address a critical nursing shortage. Within the Woodlands Center campus, a facility renovation strategy for nursing aims to add additional capacity to meet increased student demand and expand in-house simulation capabilities. The plan supports an enrollment of 720 students, a substantial increase from the current in-person enrollment of 380 in Fall 2022.
  • The College of Osteopathic Medicine was recently granted approval of state funding that will eliminate disparities between its tuition costs compared to other Texas public medical schools and private schools. This will allow us to amplify our focus on training a new generation of physicians to practice primary care medicine in underserved regions.
  • Student life is thriving and growing, offering an array of activities that enhance the overall student experience. From the highly anticipated Sammy Awards to Bearkat Camp, students have ample opportunities to engage. The Battle of the Bands showcases the incredible talent within our campus community, while the Tree of Light event brings together students in a spirit of unity and celebration. These activities create a vibrant atmosphere that continues to elevate student life.
  • With an impressive 95% occupancy rate for on-campus accommodations, coupled with the addition of modern residence halls like the esteemed San Jacinto Hall, living on campus is part of an exceptional college experience at SHSU.
  • A new SHSU Master Plan balances a reinvestment in legacy buildings as well as additional spaces to meet future growth needs.
