The online Master of Public Administration (MPA) program at Sam Houston State University is a 36-credit graduate degree designed to prepare students for leadership and management roles in public and nonprofit organizations. Our program offers two concentrations tailored to meet the diverse needs of today’s public service professionals:

- Management, for students focused on advancing their skills in organizational management, program evaluation, and administrative effectiveness.
Grounded in a comprehensive core curriculum, the SHSU MPA program equips students with essential competencies in public management, ethics, budgeting, human resources, organization theory, and the politics of governance. Students benefit from the flexibility of an online learning environment and receive individualized attention to help balance academic, professional, and personal responsibilities.
Our graduates serve in leadership roles across Texas and the nation—including city and county management, school districts, fire and law enforcement services, emergency coordination, and nonprofit administration—making meaningful contributions to their communities.
We welcome both experienced professionals and those preparing for public service careers. Applications are accepted year-round for fall, spring, and summer entry terms. GRE scores are not required for admission.
