Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling, Graduate Certificate

Available: On Campus

The Graduate Certificate in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling is designed for students who want to gain knowledge and skills for counseling couples and families.

The 12-hour graduate certificate provides students with a deeper understanding of family systems theory, systemic approaches for working with couples and families, and effective strategies for working with a wide variety of issues.

Students pursuing an MA in Counseling or who already have a master's degree in a counseling-related field may apply for this certificate program.

If students desire to pursue a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), they should consult the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council or visit the Texas Administrative Code for more information. SHSU is only able to provide guidance on the academic courses that are offered.
