Learn the tools and methods for engineering design at SHSU.

The Engineering Design Technology degree focuses on creating drawings and sketches of products. Designers assist engineers in developing product prototypes and models. The coursework focuses on design study to assist in implementation of technology innovation, materials, and aesthetic values. The degree is interdisciplinary with course requirements in marketing, management, production, and quality control analysis. Students in the program will obtain competencies in computer and presentation skills, comprehension of blueprints and product design specifications, problem-solving, and communication.

Internships

The internship program provides experience-based learning opportunities in your respective discipline of study. You generally seek internship experience at the end of your junior or senior year and can receive six hours of advanced course credit.

Facilities

Our cutting-edge laboratories provide you with hands-on experiences in design, prototyping, electronics, safety, and electrical and renewable energy as well as metal, wood, and concrete construction for residential and commercial structures.

Highlighted Scholarship

Fred Pirkle Scholarship Endowment
No less than $5,000 if awarded; awarded to qualifying full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in a discipline with a curriculum dedicated to Engineering Technology; maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50.
