About TRIO TSS
Teacher Support Services (TSS), funded by the U.S. Department of Education, is a TRIO SSS program dedicated to increasing the retention and graduation rates for low-income and first-generation education students who our needing specialized services to complete not only their Teacher Prep programing but also the Texas certification process.
TRIO TSS Mission Statement
The TRIO Teacher Support Services (SSS) program is dedicated to increasing the retention and graduation rates of our Teacher Prep student participants at Sam Houston State University. Our goal is to support Teacher Prep students in the rigorous certification process and increase first time pass rates of content certification.
TRIO TSS Objectives
SHSU TRIO TSSS program objectives are measured by the following:
- Persistence Rate: 90% of all participants served will persist from one academic year to the beginning of the next academic year.
- Academic Standing: 90% of all enrolled SSS participants served will meet the performance level required to stay in good academic standing at SHSU.
- Graduation Rate: 70% of new participants served each year will graduate within six (6) years.
