While costs vary from student to student, answering the questions below may assist with estimating your cost of attendance for one semester at SHSU. Please note: These estimations are for planning purposes only and do not reflect possible financial aid awards including scholarships, grants, or student loans. Residency

Does the student qualify as a resident of the state of Texas? See admissions site for residency requirements. If so, that student would be considered a Texas Resident. Students not classified as a Texas Resident are considered to have Out of State or International Residency. How you're classified is important because it determines whether or not you pay out of state tuition or in-state tuition.

Type of Classes

Undergraduate college students are working towards a bachelor’s degree.

Graduate or Professional students are working toward an advance degree such as a masters or doctorate.

Will you be enrolled in any of these programs?

Master of Education in School Leadership program: The program fee is charged at the rate of $395.25 per semester credit hour summer 2021 and at the rate of $413.25 per credit hour beginning the farl 2021 semester. Additional information on the program is available on the School Leadership website.

Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program: Total program cost for the two-year program is $44,000. The program costs are billed at $7000 a semester for each of the two years; fall, spring and summer. Each fall semester a $1000 Orientation fee will be charged in addition to the $7000 Program Fee. Degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine: The annual program fee for Texas Residents is set at $19,950 and for Non-Residents the fee is set at $21,950. In addition to the program fee, students will be subject to statutory tuition which is set at $6,550 for Texas Residents and $19,650 for Non-Residents per academic year. Additional charges for books and health insurance may be assessed at the time of registration. Information on the College of Osteopathic Medicine may be found on their website.

Living Expenses

This is a cost estimator only and not an official residence hall, meal plan or parking selection. Students who are within nine months from graduating high school are required to live on campus and purchase a resident dining plan. Housing applications require a $200 deposit.

Summer is made up of two sessions. The summer housing rate displayed is for one session. Students may elect to stay for two sessions which will double the rate displayed.

Parking

A parking permit is required to park on most SHSU campuses.

You must pay to park on at our Huntsville and College of Osteopathic Medicine campus. The Woodlands Center does not require a parking permit. More about Parking

Estimated Cost for 1 Semester

Fees are assessed at either a flat rate or based on the number of class hours taken. Mandatory fees include the Institutional Service, Intercollegiate Athletic, Student Service, Student Center, Medical, and Recreational Sports fee. Bearkat Bundle is our all-encompassing, convenient textbook rental program to provide undergraduate students with all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and electronic book versions before the first day of class! We encourage students to verify textbooks 7 days prior to class to ensure course material for the first day of class. We also understand this program may not meet the needs of every student. An opt-out option is available each semester if students do not wish to participate in the Bearkat Bundle program.
