Electives
This year we will be offering a number of special elective sessions during camp. These sessions will be open to all students, though each will have a limited number of available slots. There is no additional cost for our special sessions. Sign up for the electives will occur at check in, so enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. An official list of sessions will be emailed to you with your camp handbook. Some sample sessions from previous years include:
Voice Masterclass – Sing for, and hear other students sing, and then get feedback from the SHSU voice faculty in a warm and supportive atmosphere. If you are interested in the class, bring a solo piece with you!
Conducting Class – We will look at some of the basics of conducting, including beat patterns, cueing, expression, instruction, and podium personality. Highly recommended for those interested in Music Education.
Acting for Singers – Explore techniques for character development, and stage presence through the medium of song.
Composition – Interested in being a composer? Have some pieces you’d like to get feedback on? Join this session with SHSU resident composer Dr. Kyle Kindred, and learn about the career and craft of composition.
