Biography
James S. Olson, a Texas State University System Regents Professor, received the B.A. from Brigham Young University and the M.A. and Ph.D. from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, in 1969 and 1972. He joined the faculty of Sam Houston State University in 1972. He has received numerous awards for research and teaching, including a Piper Professorship from the Minnie S. Piper Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment for Education, the Council for the Advancement of Education, the Texas Historical Foundation, the Association of American Publishers, and the American Popular Culture Association.
